HERITAGE SOCIETY TIMELINE - THE 1990S
Since 1979, the LHS has been active in helping to preserve our local
heritage. Here are some of our events that took place in the 1990s:
1996
October 2, 1996- the LHS elected their new officers and enjoyed a
presentation by Texas Tech Professor John White.
December 8, 1996- the LHS hosted a public lecture at Grace
Presbyterian Church by June Lennox, visiting lecturer at Texas Tech
University College of Architecture. Ms. Lennox, who along with Nolan
Barrick designed the windows in the sanctuary of Grace Presbyterian
during her stay in Lubbock in 1990-91, discussed “The Art of Stained
Glass.”

1997
August 19, 1997- the LHS meeting was held in the Community Room of
Citizens State Bank in Slaton to enlighten the Board concerning the
Slaton Harvey House Restoration Project. Tony Privett, LHS Board
Member and President of the Slaton Railroad Heritage Association, gave
the background report and conducted a tour of the structure.
September 24, 1997- St. Paul’s-on-the-Plains Church was filled to
capacity for the LHS’s annual election of officers and slide show
program by John White, professor of architecture at Texas Tech.
