PRESS CONFERENCE
Tuesday, March 25, 2014
1:30 p.m., Café J, 2605-19th St.
Please join the Lubbock Heritage Society Board for a 1:30 p.m. Press
Conference at Café J, supporting the Save the Godbold Campaign.
The Godbold Center, formerly the Plains Clinic and the original St.
Mary’s Hospital, is in the process of being sold.
The prospective new owner is considering tearing the
structure down and replacing it with a high-rise hotel.
The Lubbock Heritage Society is very concerned about the destruction
of yet another historic structure in Lubbock.
We are holding a press conference to express that concern.
Lubbock Heritage Society President, Pam Brink, will speak to
the issue, and we are asking you, as a member of the Lubbock
Heritage Society, to come stand with us.
We know that many of you will have memories of the Plains
Clinic and St. Mary’s Hospital.
Please send them to us via email at
aae1@nts-online.net
to post on our Web site, or
possibly share with reporters at the press conference.
One by one, we have lost buildings with historic significance, and
we must make every effort to save what we have left.
The doctors who practiced in the Plains Clinic and the nuns
who served in the St. Mary’s Hospital were among the most dedicated
individuals to ever serve our area.
Multitudes of births and deaths and, undoubtedly, lots of
miracles, have occurred in that building, perhaps even to a member
of our own families.
Please – let’s make sure this building remains for generations to
come.
Thank you for your attention to this notice, and we look forward to
hearing from you. “Save
the Godbold” buttons are available by calling any of the Lubbock
