LHS'S SPRING ANNUAL MEETING

The LHS's spring annual meeting was met with a large turnout.  The event was held on Sunday, February 17, 2013, at 2:00 p.m. in the Formby Room of the Southwest Collection/Special Collections Library. Following the business portion of the meeting, Dr. Robert Carr, retired Lubbock physician, presented a program on “History in Our Own Back Yard.” The program touched on such little known events as the Yellow House Canyon Battle and was infused with historical information on Buffalo Springs, Ransom Canyon, the Indian Truce site, the Coronado campsite, the Texas Ranger camp, the McKenzie vs Quanah Parker Battle site, Camp Supply and more. This program served as a reminder that this area is very rich in history.

The LHS owns numerous copies of the book, along with programs and dvds from Lubbock's Centennial events, and sells these as a fundraiser to help support our preservation activities.

Before the event started people visited in the Rotunda area and looked at the various exhibits on display.

A packed room waited for the event to begin.

LHS President Daniel Sanchez gave the audience an overview of the LHS's activities for 2011-2012.
