Architectural History of the Godbold Center

Our Thursday night program was a success! Despite the cold weather, we had close to 40 in attendance. The program was presented by Dr. Hendrika Buelinckx and her graduate students. After presenting a history of the original St. Mary's Hospital (now the Godbold Center), students revealed their ideas about how this building and property could be used in the future. The students had made replicas of the old hospital, showing the stages of development of the building as time progressed. Pictures were also used, as well as articles in the Lubbock Avalanche Journal from previous years. For lovers of history and architect fans, the imagination was stirred and nostalgia set in. I also want to thank the Garden and Art Center. The St. Paul's on the Plains church building is the perfect setting for a smaller program. Thanks to all who came.
